Have you ever had an idea but talked yourself out if it? Sometimes it just keeps coming back at you in different guises!
For the last 16 years I have built up my Pilates business teaching classes around my local area! Teaching classes to try to fit in with when people have their free time, running classes during the day and some evenings, I sometimes do ‘one to one’ lessons early in the morning. A lot of the people who attend classes are Mums and Dads or Grandparents who have family commitments, I have learnt to structure my classes around term times as I don’t want to encroach on the already valuable family time for both my clients and myself.
Taking time out for family time is important for a healthier lifestyle too.
So as with lots of things that we like to do and that benefit our health and wellbeing time is our biggest problem! Not running regular courses over the summer holidays and Christmas holidays means that most people come back in September and January with a lack of Pilate’s practice, most wishing that they had at least done something! Many feel that they are starting at the beginning again!
There are some exceptions, some clients practise regularly using the practice sheets that I have given out, I also had the idea of doing some virtual online classes from home (I’m lucky enough to have a small studio so the space was there). I trialled this over the summer holidays and while it was great to be so interactive, it was limited and it still meant people had to commit to a time slot!
Virtual classes great for interaction but limited due to time constraints of everyone.
So why don’t we practice when we have all felt the benefits of regular Pilates. We make all sorts of excuses for not doing what we know to be good for us, but the most common reasons are always “time” and “can’t remember what to do”. Even with the practice sheets and photos and with a few videos posted on YouTube (which clients seem to like) still not much practise was done!
So this idea kept coming back to me – practise videos! There are lots of resources online so this is nothing new but with “ Time” being such a big issue I kept thinking, 10 minutes is all we need 3 – 5 times a week. Surely we can all find 10 minutes in our day, less time on social media maybe!!! (Note to self!)
So from that light bulb moment and a lot of hard work, heart ache and worrying if I am good enough to do this, we are ready to go!!
This stayed on my desk throughout the process and it’s become my daily mantra!!
So July 2017 we launch our new subscription based online 10 minute videos for Pilate’s practise, no faffing around just straight into doing your practise then carry on with your day! Perfect solution for those who already practise Pilates, can’t make classes or just want to add that little extra to their Pilates practise.
I am so excited to see if I can make a different and get people moving regularly, there are no excuses, Pilates can be done anywhere!
By everyone!
All for a healthier lifestyle!
