Why I am changing things in the Studio 44 Pilates
Membership ?
There are changes happening in the Studio 44 Pilates membership. Lockdown has seen a lot of us reprioritise our lives, finding out what’s important to us and what we love to do!
Yes, it’s happened to me too.
I’ve loved teaching online; I’ve loved the real focus and commitment by all my clients who followed me and I’ve loved seeing the results that they have achieved.
I’ve seen people become stronger, change their posture, seen their confidence grow as they realise that Pilates moves that were hard before are now manageable!
I’ve also got my Pilates mojo back. To be honest I didn’t realise I had lost it. But when you jump off the treadmill (although I’m not sure I did, as teaching was still full on when we went into lockdown) and just change a few things you realise the impact it was having.
Don’t get me wrong once all the restrictions have been lifted, I can’t wait to get back to in person classes locally and see my clients again.
BUT online classes aren’t going away.
So, that’s why I am changing things in the Studio 44 Pilates membership. I’m focusing on what I love to do and how I can help people achieve more.
Any of you who follow me know I love to run and Canicross with my dog Pickle. You’ll also know I’ve had my share of injuries.
Although frustrating to me Pilates has helped strengthen me for my running and improved my flexibility. I’m taking time to do more of my own practice. Doing what I always tell others to do and I love it!
So, Why am I changing my focus to Pilates for Runners!
As we reach 40 + and beyond our bodies start to change, but you know that right, you can feel it?
Our muscles start to change and become weaker (this happens a lot quicker when we reach 50+)
By adding strength training to our routines we can delay this and Pilates is a great way to do this as well as focusing on the main muscles we use as we run.
So slowly the membership is changing it’s focus to Pilates for Runners.
What are the changes?
To start with you won’t see huge changes in the membership, more LIVE classes will be introduced which are running specific. The current general LIVE Pilates classes we already have will stay the same.
The guest speakers will be more running specific as well as general well-being.
How does Pilates for Runners differ from normal Pilates
Mat Pilates, the exercises are still the same, as a runner we need to focus on strong core and glutes to help with our running technique. There will be more standing Pilate’s sessions which will be very running specific, focusing on legs, balance and posture.
How does it affect me if I am a member already?
If you are already a member it doesn’t. The 10-minute videos will still be all in the membership with new ones added regularly. The live classes as mentioned will still stay the same with more Pilates for runners’ classes added.
What about the retreat?
The retreat was born out of lockdown. It had always been my wish to do a retreat but doing an in person one was out of the question at the time. As we re enter normal life with less restrictions maybe I will be able to do that in person retreat someday soon.
What about the guest speakers?
There will still be guest speakers focusing on running and health and wellness.
Ultimately as we grow older, we should be adding strength and flexibility into our workouts whether a runner or not and Pilates can help.
If you are a runner then come and join us. If you have an annoying niggle then adding strength to your workouts is really important.
Time doesn’t need to be an issue either, all you need is 10 minutes 3 – 4 times a week to keep you running.
