Frequently asked questions
Will I use it?
We are all busy and fitting in that run is often hard enough so adding something else seems impossible!
The great thing about the Pilates for Runners membership is that you have a choice as to when you fit your 10 minutes in.
Either give the 10-minute Pre recorded videos a go or join in a weekly LIVE classes.
10-minute Pre-recorded videos, there are 100’s to choose from and new ones added each month. Plus, you don’t need to scroll to choose one you can just pop into the calendar and do your session.
Still worried about time? These sessions would make great warm up or cool downs. You do a warm up right?
The Weekly LIVE Zoom classes range from 10,20, 30 minutes to 1-hour sessions.
Here is an example of a weekly timetable
You can drop in and out of these as you wish, depending on whether you need the accountability to keep going or just want some feedback, it’s easy to get into bad habits.
Will I see results?
As with everything you have to put in the time to get results.
If you do then yes it works.
If you have an injury a niggle or a weakness you will see improvements in some of the exercises.
You can feel it in your running, what more motivation do you need to keep you doing what keeps you running!
How often do I need to do Pilates?
It’s really up to you and what your goal is. Ideally at least 3 x week or get into a daily habit will see the results you want quicker.
I’ve never done Pilates before?
That’s ok. As part of the membership, there is a beginner’s course which takes you through the basic Pilates set-up, and the basic moves. Showing you how can progress as you get stronger.
The Beginner’s course consists of 10, 10-minute Pilates videos to be done at your own pace.
I’ve done a lot of Pilates how will this help?
The Pilates for Runners membership is a mix of mat Pilates and standing Pilates. Both focus on the muscles we use. The standing Pilates is very running specific with some great exercises you can use on your own. For example, a calf raise is great for weak calves, we focus on the position we do the exercise in, core strength, posture and balance.
As a seasoned Pilates person, you will also know that the Pilates moves can be adapted to challenge you as you get stronger as well.
I’ve only just started running do I need this yet?
Yes, starting a strength and flexibility habit as you start out is a good habit to have and will help reduce your risk of injury which is common with new runners. It will also help you focus on your technique which is great when starting out.
I am a runner; how will this help?
As a runner, I am sure you are aware of how easy it is to get injuries and niggle. Maybe you have suffered already!
The thought of not running for most runners, is frustrating, depressing and annoying, whether you run for fitness, mental health or both.
Plus we all know we need to add strength into our workouts, we just don’t do it unless we need to! Check out the blog I did for UKRunChat here
Just 10-minute 3 x week will make a difference.
It really is only a small investment in your time that could keep you running for longer, injury-free.
