Sport Relief 2018 starts Saturday 17th March until Friday 23rd March. This year its all about “whatever moves you”. So what better way than to do a Pilates Challenge over the week.
Each day on our Facebook Page Studio 44 Pilates we will post two exercises to practise for the day. The aim is to do both exercises 6 – 10 times each day and then on Friday 23rd we will be doing a Facebook Live at 8am to put all the exercises together to make a 10 minute routine.
How often do you move?
The recommended guidelines on the NHS website say:
“To stay healthy, adults aged 19-64 should try to be active daily and should do:
at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity such as cycling or brisk walking every week, and
strength exercises on two or more days a week that work all the major muscles (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms) ”
Can you honestly say you achieve this each week?
Some scary figures about men and women in the UK. Women are 36% more likely than men to be classified as physically inactive – 11.8 million women compared with 8.3 million men.
In the UK, 63.3% of adults (with higher rates in women than in men) do not meet recommended amounts of activity, such as walking briskly for 30 minutes or more five times a week or taking more vigorous exercise for 20 minutes three times a week.
So don’t let this be you, it’s easy to bring movement into your life and what better way than Pilates. So we hope you can join us in our challenge.
